Collecting and using your personal information

Some of your personal information is collected when you register for an account. This includes your name, company or organisation, telephone number and email address. You will also be requested to enter a username and password. This information is used to communicate with you, operate your account, answer queries and process transactions. Additional information is collected to establish which parts of the library and services are the most appropriate for your purposes. Your credit card or account details, address and delivery address are also required for processing transactions of products or services. Credit card payments are processed by Third Light using an encrypted link to their banking service. We do not store credit card details.

In the future we may use your contact details to send you information regarding our products and services. If you do not wish to receive such communications please email or write to us asking to unsubscribe. You will continue to receive any communications necessary to operate your account.

As well as the information you give us, certain information is collected automatically when you enter the website such as the IP address of your computer, date and time. When you log in as a user you can be linked automatically to your account. This facilitates the operation of your account, removing the need to repeatedly enter information, enabling your preferences, preserving lightboxes etc. The information which is logged automatically includes log ins, downloads and search activity. Cookies are used. A ‘cookie’ is a small file which is sent to your computer when you visit a website. When you re-visit the cookie allows the website to recognise your computer. If you wish, you may be able to change the settings on your browser to refuse all cookies, or to accept cookies from certain websites only. Additionally cookies may be deleted after visiting a website. Please note that some website features do not function properly without cookies.

We do not supply your personal information to any external parties, but it may be shared with third parties who undertake services on our behalf such as website hosting, order fulfilment and payment processing.

We reserve the right to disclose your personal information to comply with the law and legal process, respond to claims, and to protect rights, property or safety.
