About the envirovision picture library

Focus

The envirovision picture library provides visual materials to help communicate many important issues relating to our food, work, lifestyle and the world around us. The images are of relevance to publishers, designers, trainers, consultants, educators, marketers and all those influencing others.

Here you will find pictures of varied subjects, often taken from a different perspective to the norm. Successful communication frequently involves the use of realistic images with which the chosen audience can identify. Therefore expect to find real people and subjects in real situations.

People

The library was created by Colin and Valerie Hyett.

Colin is an experienced photographer with a keen interest in digital photography. Colin provides the technical skills necessary for the digital library, managing the IT systems and editing images. He also manages submissions from contributing photographers, helping them to meet the library’s standards of technical quality.

Valerie is an experienced practitioner, consultant and trainer, holding an honours degree in Environmental Health and training/teaching qualifications. She has successfully developed innovative resources for internationally recognised training courses, and has written several associated publications. These roles have given her a unique perspective on the resources needed to communicate various types of information. Valerie manages the overall content of the library and the information which accompanies the images.

Contributing photographers are welcome. If you are interested in supplying your pictures to the library, please email contributors@envirovision.co.uk for details regarding submissions and technical specifications.

Children and public use

The envirovision picture library is designed for professional adult users. Although there are many images suitable for educational use by children, it is intended that the website itself is operated by adults.

Professional users must use their judgement in selecting images that are appropriate for their target audience. Due to the subject matter covered, there are images that some people may find unpleasant. These may be extremely useful for certain purposes, for example, pest control and health education, and as such have a justifiable position within the library.

Educational and charity usage

We are passionate about the importance of education and training. Therefore special discounts are available for smaller sized versions of some pictures for these purposes. We hope that this will enable genuine training and education providers to access some high quality imagery to support them in this valuable role.

If you represent a school, college, university or other training provider registered with a charity, and would like further details, please contact us via support@envirovision.co.uk
